Knoxville, Tenn.
— The web design competition known as WPXOs has been around for about a decade.
But it’s a new year for the awards, which are open to anyone who wants to design a website.
There are now a dozen finalists.
Some are new to the field, but some are well-known, like architect David Knoyles.
“I was looking for a place where I could start my career, and I’m still looking for that place,” Knoyls told The Washington Post in an interview.
The award is the culmination of Knoyels work at Knoxville’s City Center, a downtown office building that’s been home to the city’s public schools for more than a decade, according to its website.
Knoyles was awarded the WPXC 2018 Web Design Award for his design of a design for a new city building.
“We’re still figuring out how to go about this, and we’ll be at it for the next six months,” said Knoyals co-founder and CEO, Ryan Knoyl.
The WPXOCs focus is on building “great web design for everyday people,” said a statement on the awards website.
“We want to inspire and encourage designers and Web designers alike to embrace the beauty and possibilities of the web, and to help create a better world.”
The WPXL awards are also open to designers and developers.
“Designers are an amazing group to be in and we are lucky to be a part of them,” said the statement on WPXL’s website.
“They help us create new kinds of experiences and bring new ideas to life.”
Knoyl’s design was featured on a news website called Tech Insider.
“This year we decided to make the best of a bad year,” he said.
“I’m really happy with what I came up with, and it was pretty cool.”
Knayl said he’s looking forward to a new opportunity to build his business, the future of the community and his family.
“It’s definitely something I’m looking forward for,” he told The Post.
“The community is always really supportive, and they’ll always support my work.”
The competition is also open for design teams and developers to enter.
“The prize is a chance to do something really unique and unique in your own way,” Knoys co-CEO, Ryan, said.
The winner will receive a $50,000 cash prize, as well as an invitation to a keynote presentation and an opportunity to speak at a Web Design Conference.
The deadline to enter is Dec. 11.
