My main goal has always been to connect with the people who are working in the local craft and to build an audience for local brands.
The problem with that approach is that the people in the craft aren’t always the ones who are willing to share their expertise, especially when the stories involve a local brand.
For instance, a recent article about an up-and-coming local beer company in Portland focused on the beer-making process and how its products are created.
The article wasn’t about beer but it did tell a story about a brewery.
But that story isn’t the story that most people want to hear.
When a brand in Portland, Oregon wants to get their name out there, they’re going to need to get the people involved in the process.
If you’re trying to get a story in the print media, you need to talk to them first.
